Getting There

We can check one more thing off the list in terms of decorating the house. We got our patio furniture a few months ago and have been waiting for the bistro set to come back in stock. Well it never happened. I guess it still could but we ended up finding something we liked better. Costco has great outdoor furniture right now. We found the cutest little bistro set. I just love it and the best part is it came with two ottomans so they can act as extra seating if we need them to. I also like that it's a little different, it goes nicely with the other set without being so matchy matchy. So another big thank you to Judy and Joel for the great gift. Of course I took pictures and I got a cute one of Brody, he likes the table too.

Play Date

So Brody had his first play date this weekend. Sydna's friend Tiphini who moved here from Sacramento had her son Kayson 9 days before Brody. Our friend Tanya was in town visiting so we decided to all get together. It was a lot of fun to see Brody interact with another baby. They were pretty cute together. I tried to get some pictures but trying to get two babies to cooperate at the same time is a difficult thing. Here are a couple of the pics.

Brody saying hi!

Kayson saying hi back. (If you look close you can kind of see Brody's mohawk)

Learning to share.

Brody really liked his feet or maybe it was the shoes.

Checking out Kayson's cool jeans.

Brody and Tanya. He is making a weird face in this picture but it was the only one I got of the two of them.

Likes and Dislikes

Brody is now 7 months old. He is getting so big and is starting to develop such a personality. I thought is would be fun to share some of his likes and dislikes with you. His likes list is much longer but I guess that is a good thing. So first off he loves all of his toys. Especially his bouncy seat and his swing. Here is a video of him loving his swing.

He has been doing really good with eating. We started him on a little bit of baby food. He has one serving of some kind of fruit or vegetable a day. So far he has liked pears, bananas, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, apple sauce, peaches, peas and squash. I thought I would mention that Shasta has a new like as well. We discovered that he also likes all of the baby food that Brody likes. He is such a weird cat. The only food Brody does not like so far is prunes. Usually when he eats it all goes in the mouth and it's not a very messy process. This is what it was like when he tried prunes.

His only other dislike is public toilets. Whenever I take into a public bathroom to change him and someone flushes the toilet it scares him. The toilets at home don't seem to bother him. Then there is TV. He is really funny with what he likes and dislikes. His two favorite cartoons are Micky Mouse Club House and Handy Manny. He doesn't really care for Winnie the Pooh and Little Einsteins. His absolute favorite show is Wheel of Fortune. It doesn't matter where he is or what he is doing when he hears Wheel of Fortune come on he crawls to the tv and gives it his undivided attention. He also really likes anything to do with music (he enjoyed the Grammy's). He loves to crawl and try to stand. He loves getting into all the things he's not supposed to. He likes sucking on his feet and anything else he can stick in his mouth. And then of course he loves his daddy! and being tickled.

Crawling Machine

Brody if officially a crawling machine. At first he was still doing the worm/belly flop thing whenever he was on the carpet and he would do the real crawl on the hardwood floors. Now he is just crawling everywhere. It's really cute he just takes off and goes. I'm constantly chasing after him. I should probably just get used to that since it's what I'm going to be doing for the next several years. We have to go get gates this weekend and finish baby proofing everything!

Baby's First

It has been a ruff day. Brody didn't sleep well all night and was up at 6am. He has been cranky and fussy all day which is so unlike him. Well now it all makes since. I was about to feed him this afternoon and that's when I saw it. His first tooth! I knew he would be getting one soon but I feel like it just kind of snuck up on me. I tried my best to get a picture.

It is very hard to get a picture inside a babies mouth!

He didn't like me poking around in there trying to get a picture.

But I did get a smile when I finally finished poking and prodding!

Fabulous Dinner!

So for Valentine's Day I decided I would cook us a really nice dinner. One of our favorite restaurants to go to in California is Va de Vi. I have their cook book and thought it would be fun to try and make the entire dinner from the cook book. I was a little nervous because I had never made any of the dishes. Especially the dessert because it required me making crust. For those of you who don't know I suck at making crust, I tried to make Mark a Lemon Meringue pie for his birthday, 4 hours and 5 crusts later I had to go to the store and buy pre-made crust. Anyway, it all came out amazing. First we had a mixed baby green salad with chopped almonds, strawberries, breaded goat cheese with a strawberry vinaigrette. It was really good, I even made the dressing from scratch. Then we had Hoisen-Barbequed braised rack of lamb with wasabi mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. It was the best dinner I have ever made. Then for dessert I made a Vanilla Bean Macadamia Nut Tartlet with caramel and chocolate sauce. Mark actually took a picture of the dessert, I wish I would have thought about that for the entire dinner but I was very proud of the dessert. And yes I made the crust myself!

We also had a request from my mom for some pictures with me in them. So Mark took a few the other night and here are the best ones.

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! I know not everyone loves this holiday, but it is special to Mark and I because we got engaged on this day 6 years ago. I can't believe it's been that long. Anyway, I got a really cute video of Brody last night. His new thing is to shake his head like he is saying no. I was trying to get him to do it but I got him standing instead. I'll keep trying to get him shaking his head, but this is really cute in the meantime.

Such a Ham

Brody is in love with the camera and taking pictures. It's just too cute. I get the camera out and he just starts smiling and hamming it up. Even if he is crying or getting fussy as soon as he sees the camera he's all smiles. His new thing is standing. He will crawl over to me and use me to push or pull himself up so he is standing. I can't beleive how fast he changes. Another one of his new things is his mad face. He scrunches his face up and breathes in and out of his nose really loud and fast. It's so funny. I'm trying to get a picture of it but like I said as soon as he sees the camera it's all smiles. I'll keep trying, maybe the video camera will work better.

Wonderful Wednesday

So tonight is wonderful Wednesday. We are going to a place called Doc's Backyard. It's on Brodie Lane which I think is cute. We had a great weekend. Super Bowl Sunday was fabulous. I ate so much I'm still full. Matt and Abbey came and brought 7 layer dip and spinach artichoke dip. Tim and Shara brought the best queso I have ever had. Dr. and Jamie brought really yummy deer chili and we made sausage and mini sandwiches. I also made these almond danish things that were really good. It was a recipe I got from the food network. Good thing I saved all of my Weight Watchers bonus points for Sunday because I definitely used them all up. We had our 2nd official beer tasting contest. See here in Texas every one drinks Miller Light not Bud Light so we had to have a taste test to see if they could really taste the difference. The first one we had a few months ago at Dr.'s house. The beers were poured into red plastic cups. Well all the Texans picked the Bud Light over the Miller Light so they wanted a do over. So on Sunday we left the beer in the cans and did a blind tasting. This time Miller Light prevailed. The funniest part was that the only blind fold I had was this pink one that Mark's mom gave me when Brody was born. It says "Shhhh mommy's sleeping" on the front. I only got a picture of Matt doing the tasting.

I still like Bud Light!

Mark thought it was funny that all the girls were on the couch watching the game and the boys were no where to be seen.

And I know everyone is having Brody withdraw so I had to put a few pictures of him on here too. He still loves bath time. He is so cute I could just eat him up.
